The key purpose of the role is to lead the relevant shift in the execution of the production plan, executing quality control and analyses, carrying out autonomous maintenance tasks and the resolution of production problems.
OPTIMISE PRODUCTION PERFORMANCE & PROCESSES:
- Coordinate and perform scheduled maintenance.
- Monitor production processes.
- Interpret and implement production plan for shift.
- Ensure and maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
- Build and foster relationships with customers and preferred suppliers.
PERFORM ADMINISTRATION:
- Ensure application of admin systems and procedures.
- Manage team members for optimal performance.
- Contribute to self and team development.
- Prepare and control budgets.
FACILITATE TEAM PROBLEM-SOLVING AND DECISION-MAKING:
- Apply problem-solving and decision-making techniques and principles.
- Facilitate team problem-solving.
MANAGE HUMAN RESOURCES:
- Develop employees.
- Ensure a healthy industrial relations climate.
- Manage and apply personnel practices.
Minimum Requirements:
- Post Matric Tertiary Qualification e.g. National Diploma or equivalent in engineering, N6 Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical) studies plus Trade Test qualification.
- Computer Literate.
- Experience in a packaging process environment.
- Experience at supervisory level will be an added advantage.
- Be able to work shifts.
- Be a team player as well as an effective leader.
- Attention to detail.
- Bias for action/comfortable with initiating action.
- Able to lead meetings and make presentations.
- Analytical and systematic thinking ability, to enable effective problem-solving.
- Sound communication skills.
- Managing people’s ability as well as the ability to drive performance.

- High level of resilience and ability to operate in a high-pressure environment.
- Experience in managing and running a packaging line would be highly advantageous.
